Why Should I See a Geriatrician?
Your Specialist Physician, GP or Surgeon may request that you see a geriatrician. We provide an individualised approach to your care, through a comprehensive assessment of your medical issues, medications, general health and your social situation. This may also include an assessment of your memory. We work with you and your family to develop a plan to optimise your health and plan for the future.
You may be referred for a pre-operative assessment (comprehensive assessment prior to your surgery) to allow you and your doctors to optimise your health and make an informed decision regarding your surgery and your care around the time of your surgery and to assist in planning for your recovery period.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please ensure that you bring your referral letter and all of your medications, or a medication list. You may wish to considering having a family member or carer attending with you.
